Anna Marie Pedersen Hansen was born in Denmark, November 6th, 1840, and passed away at the home of her son, John Hansen, near Arlington, April 24th, 1926, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 18 days.

She was married to Detlev Hansen, January 6th, 1863, and to them six children were born, four of whom survive to mourn the loss of a mother.

Mr. and Mrs. Hansen, with their family of young children, came to American in 1882, coming right out to Washington County, Nebraska, where they have resided continuously ever since. Mr. Hansen preceded his wife in death in 1907.

The surviving children are Mrs. Henry Christensen, Herman, Nebr.; Detlev Hansen, Elkhorn, Nebr.; Peter Hansen, Bellevue, Nebr., and John Hansen, of Arlington, Nebr. There are also twenty-five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the John Hansen home Tuesday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Frank Williams, pastor of the Arlington Methodist Episcopal Church. Sweet songs were rendered by a quartette from the church choir and many beautiful floral tributes covered the casket.

Interment followed in the York Creek (Thone) Cemetery where many old friend and neighbors had gathered to pay a last tribute of respect and there the obituary was read and the casket was opened to permit those who could not be at the earlier services at the home to take a last look at their old friend.

Mrs. Hansen was for many years a member of the Danish Lutheran Church and was a sincere and good Christian woman.

~Anna’s headstone has her year of birth as 1841.
