Published in the Pilot April 28, 1926

Martin Badgerow passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hans Beck, last Friday, following an illness of several weeks duration. The funeral service was held at the Beck home at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating. Mr. Badgerow was born in Scarboro, Ontario, Canada, August 3rd, 1857, so was 68 years of age at his last birthday. He grew to manhood on his father’s farm near that place and when 26 years of age was united in marriage to Miss Isabel McDonald and five children were born to them, all but the youngest in Canada. In 1896 the family came to this county and returned two years later. Then the States again looked good to them and they came back, settling on the farm now occupied by Ches Sutton northwest of Blair. Mrs. Badgerow died on the farm twenty-six years ago and he removed to Blair shortly thereafter, which has been his home since that time. He is survived by four children, Austin, of Elsie, Nebr., Mrs. Hans Beck, of this city, Mrs. Nellie Mumford, of Toronto, Canada, and Mrs. Georgia Smith of Denver, Colo. He was the eldest of a family of ten children, one brother, Justin, of Florence, and three sisters, Mrs. Marian Crosby, of Omaha, Mrs. John McDonald of Canada and Mrs. Everett Tyson, of this city surviving. Three brothers, Peter, Truman and George are buried in the Blair Cemetery, one sister, Hannah, who was never married. One sister died in infancy and is buried in Canada. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of many friends.
