Eveline C. Bovee (Gossard)

Mrs. Eveline C. Gossard was born in Harrison County, Ohio in 1847. When seven years of age she moved, with her parents to McClaine County, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. In 1864 she married Archibald Bovee to which union eleven children were born, seven of them preceding her in death, also her husband who died Dec. 25, 1900. In 1871, with three children they moved in a covered wagon to Nebraska and settled near Vacoma, living there until 1898 when they moved to Blair. The deceased began her Christian life when a young girl and lived it faithfully until her Master called her home Feb. 10, 1927. Four children are left to mourn the departure of a loving Christian mother. They are: R. R. Bovee of Dalton, Nebr.; T. H. Bovee of Shackleton, Sask., Canada; H. F. Bovee of Battleford, Sask., Canada and Mrs. W. B. Brunton of Craig, Nebr. Also, twenty-two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren survive. Funeral services were held at the New England Church on Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. H.E. Lacey officiating, pastor of the M. E. Church of Craig. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Edna Sprick, Etta Krohn, Wm. And Erwin Sprick with Evelyn Sprick at the piano. The pallbearers were Chas. Cram, Art Clark, Howard Hancock, Andy Struthers, Will Ernest and Jesse Freeman. Interment was made in the New England Cemetery beside her husband. The following were here to attend the services: Mr. and Mrs. Herman McGill, Mr. and Mrs. Guy McKinnis, and Will Gilliam of Tekamah; Mr. and Mrs. Amzi Gossard of Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Gossard of Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Speck, Mrs. Harry Yost and baby Earl and Carl Gossard of Council Bluffs and Willard Miller of Quinnebaugh,

Word was received here Thursday evening of the death of Mrs. Eveline Bovee at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Brunton, of Craig, Nebr. She has been in failing health for some time and in December her condition became critical and her two sons of Canada and one in Dalton, Nebr. were called home. She rallied and enjoyed the visit of the boys very much being able to eat Christmas dinner with them. Evaline C. Gossard was born in Harrison County, Ohio, October 10, 1847, being 79 years, 4 months old when she passed away February 10, 1927. When she was 7 years of age she moved with her parents to McClaine County, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. In the year 1864 she was married to Archibald Bovee to which union eleven children were born, seven of whom preceded her in death, also her husband who died December 25, 1900. Four children are left to mourn her departure, Robert, of Dalton, Nebr., who was here for the funeral, Theodore T. of Shackleton, Sask, Canada, Harry F., of Battleford. Sask, Canada and Opal, Mrs. Wm. Brunton, of Craig, Nebraska. Also, twenty-two grandchildren. Her children are left with a memory of a loving Christian mother. She also leaves many friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones.
