Dr. Ervilla L. Earl passed away at 8:30 Monday morning, April 19th, at the home of Mrs. Wm Wilkins, where she was rooming with her sister, Mrs. O. M. Hammang, following an illness of several months from diabetes. A brief funeral service was held at the Wilkins home at 1 o’clock this afternoon, Rev. O.U. McProud officiating, assisted by Rev. Frank Williams and Rev. J. E. Aeschbacker, of Arlington, assisting. The regular funeral service was held at the John Hammang home in Arlington and burial made in the Arlington Cemetery. Miss Earl was born near Beaver Dam, Wis., May 11, 1853, so was almost 73 years in age. With her family she moved to Lakesville, Minn., in 1958, to Fontanelle in 1864 and to Arlington in 1874. She taught in the grade schools of his city for eight years following which she took a course in osteopathy and practiced in Minnesota for some twenty years, several years in Canada, at Whitesville, N. Y., and in California where she was taken seriously ill about a year ago. Her sister, Mrs. Hammang, went out and brought her home with her as soon as she was able to come. She has seemed to be better at times and worse at times, the end being very sudden and with great pain. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the officers of the Welcome Lodge conducted a brief service at the Wilkins home before the body was taken to Arlington. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Hammang, and another sister, Mrs. Pacilla Stewart of New Mexico. She untied with the Methodist Church at the age of 14 and transferred her membership to the Blair Church when she came here to live. She was active and earnest in church work, especially foreign missions, which indicated that her sympathies were wider than her church or land.
