Buried in Herman Cemetery

Published in the Pilot September 8, 1926

The funeral of Charles Behmer formerly of Herman vicinity, but of late years a resident of Colorado, was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist Church here, Rev. T. J. Reese officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. C. E. Johnson and Mrs. Floyd Loftis, C. R. Gray and Fred Robertson with Mrs. L. V. Ackerman at the piano. Charles Behmer was born February 12, 1875 near Herman, Neb., and died August 30, 1926 at Hotchkiss, Colorado, making his age 51 years, 6 months and 18 days. He grew to manhood in this neighborhood and though he spent the latter part of his life in Colorado he always called this his home. Mr. Behmer had been enjoying good health and his death was a great shock to those who found his body lying on the prairie where he had dropped, suffering a stroke of apoplexy while herding cattle. He was a man well beloved by his neighbors because his life, while unpretentious, was beyond reproach, he was a man whose integrity was never questioned and word he always made good. He leaves to mourn his loss one sister, Mrs. Walter Davis, of Herman, two brothers, John and Hans Behmer, of Hotchkiss, Colo., and one half brother, Chris Speck, of Tekamah, Nebr., also a number of other relatives and a large circle of friends. Interment was made in the Herman Cemetery.
