Edward J. Colley

E. J. Colley died very suddenly at his home in DeSoto of heart trouble at 1:30 this afternoon. He had ben ailing for some time but was stricken but about 24 hours before his death. A brief funeral service will be held at the old Lee Smith farm home in DeSoto at 9 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday, morning, and the body taken to St. Paul, Nebr., his former home, for burial. Mr. Colley was born at Kingston, Penn., Sept. 1, 1864, so would have been 62 had he lived until that date this year. He was graduated from the public schools there and attended Lehigh University and was graduated from the technical college as a civil engineer. He followed his profession for a number of years, then engaged in railroad construction work. Some eight years ago he purchased the DeSoto store, selling it two years ago and purchased the Lee Smith home in DeSoto, where he was living when death found him. He was married to Miss Jeannette Leftwich June 7th, 1901 at St. Paul, Nebr. Besides his wife he is survived by three brothers.
