Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Larsen of the Orum neighborhood lost their little daughter, Iris, aged 11 years, Thursday morning at 9 o’clock at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was taken down there on Monday of last week to have her tonsils taken out, thinking that would help her but she grew rapidly worse and died Thursday morning of what was thought spinal meningitis. She was first sick with the flu and hadn’t recovered from it as she should. The body was brought up that day and the funeral service held Sunday afternoon, a short prayer service at the home, followed by the regular service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Her pastor, Rev. P. J. Reinertsen, was assisted in the service by Rev. Ulvilden, of Omaha. The church would hold but half the crowd gathered to show their deep sympathy to the bereaved family. Iris was born at the Blair Hospital July 15th, 1915, so was just past 11 years of age. She was an unusually bright and attractive girl, mature in mind for her years, and attracted the attention of many people for these qualities. Mrs. Larsen was formerly Miss Laura Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Miller of Lincoln Township. The bereaved parents, grandparents and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends, as was shown by the large attendance at the funeral service Sunday afternoon.

Iris Larsen, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Larsen, passed away Thursday evening at 9 o’clock at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Iris had been sick three weeks and was taken to Omaha last Monday where everything possible was done for her but all in vain. She was 11 years old July 15. She leaves beside her parents, one brother, Ivan, who is ten years old. Iris was an unusually bright and lovable child and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the home and at St. Paul’s Church, Orum, and interment made in the Orum Cemetery. Six little friends dressed in white, were pallbearers. They were Lucile Larsen, Loretta Rasmussen, Edna Hansen, Helen Hansen, Margaret Roland and Viola Nelson. This was in accordance with Iris’ last wishes. A very large crowd was in attendance and the floral offerings were many and beautiful. Rev. P. J. Reinertsen and Rev. R. Ulvilden, of Omaha, conducted the services. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved parents, brother, and other relatives.
