Margaret R. Fischer, 82

Services were Wednesday, May 10 at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha for Margaret R. Fischer, an Omaha attorney for 60 years and a former Dana regent, who died Saturday in Denver of an apparent heart attack.

Margaret R. Fischer graduated from the University of Omaha night law school in 1929 and joined the firm founded in the 1890’s by her father, pioneer Omaha lawyer Harry Fischer.

She was appointed to the University Of Omaha Board Of Regents in 1965 and received the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s alumni achievement award in 1971.

She was a former deacon of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. She was also active in the Urban League of Nebraska and the Women’s Division of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.

She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary F. and Arthur W. Schmad; a sister-in-law, Wilhelmina Fischer, all of Omaha; and nephew and nieces.
