Chris L. Poulson passed away at an early hour Sunday morning of dropsy, from which he has been a sufferer for some time. A short funeral service was held at the residence on Colfax Street at 1 o’clock and at the Danish Lutheran Church at 2 this afternoon, Rev. H. Nielsen officiating, assisted by Rev. N. P. Lang. Burial was in the Lincoln Cemetery at Orum, near his old farm home. Deceased was born in Smidie, Denmark, January 13th, 1859, so was nearing his 68th birthday. When a boy of 11 he came to this country with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Poulson, who took up their abode in Omaha, where they lived for some four years. His father bought a farm of 120 acres out near Orum in 1874 and there Chris grew to manhood’s estate. He was married to Miss Bodil Katherine Nelson on May 20, 1880, and five children were born to them, one daughter dying in infancy. The surviving children are Nels Poulson, who lives near the old farm home, Martin and Soren, who live on the old home place, Carl, of Exira, Ia., who with his wife has been here for some time helping care for Mr. Poulson, and Miss Christine, who lived at home. Mrs. Poulson has been very sick also at the Blair Hospital, but was able to be taken to the house for the short funeral service there. He moved from the farm to Blair, May 13th 1915. Besides his immediate family he leaves one half-brother, Soren Olsen, of Verdigris, Nebr., who arrived Sunday morning too late to see him alive. Mr. Poulson was a member of the Modern Woodman Lodge. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
