Anna Helene Payne (Plugge)

Mrs. Anna Payne for many years a resident of Arlington passed away Monday evening, February 14, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Johnson, of Valley, with whom she has lived recently. Mrs. Payne was born in Germany October 20, 1865, and the came to this country when 15 years of age and settled at Columbus, Nebr., where seven years later she became the wife of Herbert Payne. Shortly after her marriage they came to Arlington where they resided until the death of Mr. Payne in 1921. She was the mother of three children, a daughter who died at two years of age, her only son, Fred, who passed away in 1919 of the flu, leaving a wife and son, Ivan, and the surviving daughter, Mrs. Alice Johnson, and her two children, together with two brothers, Henry Plugge, of Fremont, and Fred Plugge, of Kennard and their families mourn her loss. She had a serious sick spell about a year ago, but recovered to some extent until the end came suddenly last Monday. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the home in Valley, then from the Methodist Church in Arlington, conducted by Rev. W. O. Samuelson, of Valley, assisted by Rev. F. Williams, of Arlington. Interment followed in the Arlington Cemetery beside the graves of husband and son. Mrs. Payne was a woman whose life will be missed by many friends who mourn her loss.
