Published in the Enterprise May 10, 1927

Miss Nancy Mabel Bayer died Sunday afternoon at the apartment of her mother, Mrs. Sidney Bayer at 349 East Sixth Street, Fremont, after a week’s sickness of heart trouble.

The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church in Fremont, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 with interment in Craig.

Nancy Bayer was born at Blair, June 29, 1884, and a year later her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bayer moved to Craig and the next year back to Blair where they remained until 1896, going from there to Leigh. Miss Bayer attended the schools of Blair and Leigh. In 1907 the family went to Fremont and have since made that city their home. Miss Bayer took up library work and secured a place in the Fremont library and became librarian, a position she held for seven years. Poor health forced her to resign her position in 1923. She was a very popular public official and had a wide circle of friends.

Since then she has lived quietly and had been able to attend to her household duties. Two weeks ago, she was taken ill and had been confined to her bed only one week. She is survived by her mother.

The Joe Bayer family will be remembered by all early settles of this city who will be grieved to hear of her death. She was a niece of Mrs. Joe S. Cook of this city and the Cook family were in attendance at the funeral service.
