Jake Rosenbaum

Jeff Rosenbaum received word Monday of the death of his brother, Jake, in Los Angeles at 2:40 that morning. The body will be sent here for burial but Mr. Rosenbaum doesn’t know just when it will arrive. Jake was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. J. F. Cunningham, the only child of a family of eight. The funeral will be held at the Methodist Church. Deceased was born in Smith County, Va., November 27th, 1849, so was past 76 years of age. He was the oldest of a family of ten children. The family moved from Virginia to Missouri by team and 1863 drove to the new state of Nebraska, settling in Omaha first, then on a farm south of Blair. There are now but four children left, Noah R., of Turner, Oregon, Jeff C. of this city, Mrs. Martha Gisch, of Oklahoma and Mrs. Elvira Spraker, of Kennard. Jake was married in 1873 Amelia Mabrey and they made their home on a farm south of Blair for a time, then in Omaha. His wife died thirty-five years ago. He has made his home with his daughter in California for several years. There are eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
