Norman Munk passed away on Jan. 18, 2018 in Broomfield, Colo. He was 84 years old. Norman was born in Blair on Jan. 1, 1934 to Leonard and Helen Munk. He grew up in Blair where he graduated from high school in 1951.

Following graduation he worked in Blair for a year and half doing odd jobs when he decided to join the United States Air Force. He spent four years of active duty and four more years in the Air Force Reserve. During that time he spent a year and a half in Guam, where he wrote letters back and forth with his sweetheart, Maxine, although to Norman she was Max. While stationed at the Warren Air Force base in Cheyenne, Max and Norman got engaged. In November of 1955, they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Flamingo Hotel and Resort. They went on to have two children, Steven and Rhonda Jo. Norm remembered when he worked at the Boulder Post Office for $2.00 an hour. He worked 80 hours a week. Later in 1973 he bought the Good Year Store in Broomfield and was the owner/manager for 26 years. Although Norm was told quite candidly that, “A business will never make it in Broomfield, Maxine and Norm later became known as the Broomfield Goodyear Family. They decided some years later to buy the Lowell Farm and become the Broomfield Cattle Barons; raising Hereford cattle and they did just that.

Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Munk and two children, Steven Munk, Rhonda Jo and two sisters, Ruth and Melvin. He is survived by one sister, Virginia; four grandchildren, Steve Torkelson, Steve Munk, Nicki Davis (Munk) and April Cochrane as well as seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Presbyterian Church of Broomfield Saturday Jan. 27, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Louisville Cemetery Saturday Jan. 27, at 1:00 p.m.
