Dr. W. H. Palmer received word this morning of the death of Mrs. Homer Fisher at the home of a friend in Council Bluffs of cancer of the breast. She had been down there about five weeks. Dr. Palmer went down on the 11:07 train and will bring the body up this evening. The funeral will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Smith at 2 o’clock tomorrow, Thursday. Martha Joy was born in Amherst, Mass., April 13, 1839, and was therefore past 76 years of age. She was married there to Homer L. Fisher and came to Blair about forty years ago. Mr. Fisher died at the soldier’s home in Burkett a year ago last January, and their only son, Ned, died of tuberculosis just thirteen months ago, so she leaves no relatives here. She has one brother back in Massachusetts. Mrs. Fisher was above the average in intelligence and had some very warm friends who appreciated her many admirable qualities.
