Jack W. Kuhr age 93 of Blair, passed away Feb. 3 in Blair.

Jack Kuhr was born on Sept. 7, 1924 in Blair, the son of Herman and Hanna Kuhr.

Jack was raised on a farm outside of Blair along with his siblings. During WWII he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country overseas. Jack was a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained at the Battle of the Bulge.

After his honorable discharge from the military Jack returned to Nebraska. In 1945 he was united in marriage to June Davis. Jack put himself through business school and graduated from Creighton University. After graduation he opened a clothing store in Oakland, called Jack's Haberdashery and then later went to work for Housing and Urban Development rising to the position of Midwest Regional Director. Jack will always be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and mentor to his family.

He is survived by his daughter Taryl Hamilton of Blair, grandchildren Tiffany (Scott) Hicks, Ryan Wolgan, Erik (Andrea) Wolgan and Emilie (Kenneth III) Fix; great-grandchildren Hannah, Sam, Ava, Cooper, Jack and William. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 67 years June Kuhr, and siblings; Harvey and Ralph Kuhr, Verna Kinep and Marjorie Svendgaard.

Memorials may be directed to The Salvation Army or The Open Door Mission. Family services will be held at a later date.
