Mrs. William Osterman passed peacefully away Thursday afternoon, June 2nd, at her home, death resulting form complications following an infection in her hand.

Mrs. Osterman who was an honored member of the community, for many years was born April 4, 1859 at Quincy, Ill., and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ruwe, to Fontanelle in early childhood and has continuously resided in the community since. Her marriage to William Osterman was in 1880 and she was the mother of five children, three of whom with her husband are left to mourn the separation. The surviving children are William, Jr., Harry and Mrs. Alice Newcom, two grandchildren, Richard Newcom and Harry Dallas Osterman, her aged mother, five brothers, and three sisters.

Mrs. Osterman was a life long member of the Lutheran Church and lived a consecrated Christina life, devoted to her family and ever ready to give of her time and sympathy whenever there was need of them. She will be greatly missed by a large circle of relatives and friends and the entire community extends their sympathy to the bereaved family. The body lay in state between the hours of 10 and 12 o’clock Saturday morning, June 4th at the residence and a private funeral was conducted by Rev. J. E. Aeschbacher at 2:30 o’clock that afternoon with burial in the Arlington Cemetery.
