John H. Kreis, 77

Drove More Than 7 Million Miles In His Career

John H. Kreis, 77, of Blair, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Crowell Home in Blair. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

Visitation began at 1 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home.

John H. Kreis was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Carl and Esther (Ehm) Kreis. He attended school in Adair County, Iowa. In 1954, he moved to Valley and Omaha and in 1978 moved to Blair. He drove truck for Hunt Transportation and later for Greyhound Bus Co. for 31 years. He later owned and operated his own truck. During his career, he drove more than seven million miles. He was married to Bernice Luke for 39 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Alan Beebe, Omaha; Pamela and Neil McAlexander, Ashland; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Kreis, Owensville, Mo., Michael and Karen Kreis, Grand Island, Randall and Mary Kreis, Omaha, Bradley and Lynda Kreis, Lander, Wyo.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie Patterson, Martinsdale, Iowa, Mardell and Gene Martin, Fontenelle, Iowa, and Carolyn and Arden Strouts, Stevensville, Mich.; many special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
