Selma Haig, 93, of Blair, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will follow in the Herman Cemetery.

Selma "Sally" Lang was born Aug. 11, 1917, in western Washington County to Ernest and Emma (Pawling) Lang. She was the second of nine children. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hooper.

In March of 1927, the family moved to a farm south of Herman where she completed her schooling and graduated from Herman High School in 1935.

In December of 1945, she was employed by Travelers Insurance Company in Omaha. In 1960, she was transferred to Traveler's Albuquerque, N.M., location to be the office manager, a position she held until her retirement in 1982 having worked for Travelers for 37 years.

On Dec. 15, 1972, she married Clifford W. Haig in Albuquerque.

After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Haig enjoyed traveling. They visited nearly every state and also Canada and Mexico.

She is survived by her two sisters, Elva Hansen of Blair and Fern Krohn of Fremont; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Shirley Lang of Blair; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; sisters Katherine Schutte, Helen Lang and Pearl Broderson; and brothers Harold Lang and Neil Lang.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair.
