Mrs. Eliza A. Carsen, aged seventy-five years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John E. Gilliland of Tekamah. Nebr., on January 21, 1927.

Mrs. Carsen was born in Balton Springs, N.Y. and with her parents moved to this county in 1858 when but seven years of age.

Mr. Carsen passed away in 1892 and after his death she struggled on alone, caring for the family as best as she could. Of this family only two remain, Mrs. Gilliland of Tekamah, and George W. Carson of Chicago, both of whom are grief stricken over the loss of her, who has been so loyal and faithful to them.

Other relatives are a sister, Mrs. Al Boston of Grand Junction, Ia., a brother, Charles Houghton of Blair, three nephews, Allie McKenney, Clarence Houghton of Blaie and Everett Houghton of Omaha and five nieces, Mrs. Oliver Hudleson, Miss Celia MeKenney, Mrs. Enoch Moore of Blair, Mrs. Avie Carmichael and Myrle Houghton of Omaha.

The body was brought to Blair and at 2 o’clock p.m. on last Sunday funeral services were held at the Congregational Church, Rev. A. F. Newell officiating and interment was made in the Blair Cemetery beside her husband who passed on before.
