Funeral services for Larry R. and Julie A. Hallstrom of Arlington were held Tuesday, Aug. 25 at First Covenant Church in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple died Sunday, Aug. 16, in Traverse City, Mich., from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Larry Ray Hallstrom was born Feb. 26, 1958, in Sioux City to Maurice and Wilma (Noe) Hallstrom. He attended and graduated from South Sioux City High School with the Class of 1976. After high school, he went into the United States Marines and served five years in California and Hawaii. Upon being discharged, he continued his education at WITCC and obtained an associate’s degree in Architectural Drafting. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He was a member of the local and national chapters of Harley Owners Group (HOG). In his spare time, he did mechanical work (body work) on cars and was an avid Husker football fan.

Julie Ann Pojar was born Nov. 24, 1962, in Sioux City to Virgil and Bonnie (Cornwell) Pojar. She attended school in Sioux City and graduated from East High School with the Class of 1981. She worked for Fareway in Sioux City and for the last 10 years as a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, attending auctions with her father and had a love for her dogs.

The couple were married on Sept. 29, 1984, at First Covenant Church in Sioux City. The family which included their three children, Jerrad, Kelsey and Landon, made their home in Arlington for the last 13 years. Together they enjoyed boating, camping, home campfires, motorcycle riding and spending time with and spoiling their children.

They are survived by their children, Jerrad, Kelsey and Landon, all of Arlington; Larry’s parents, Maurice and Wilma; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Denise and sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Scott Martin, all of South Sioux City; Julie’s father, Virgil, of Sioux City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Scotty and Ardis, Randy and Roxanne. Greg and Diane all of Sioux City, Jeff and Tammy of Portage, Mich., and Danny and Donna of Kalamazoo, Mich., and sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Steve Langel of Jefferson, S.D.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

They were preceded in death by Julie’s mother, Bonnie.

A memorial fund has been set up for the children at Two Rivers Bank in Arlington and Blair, and Fremont National Bank in Fremont.
