Nicholas Dean Kuncl, age 73 of Blair, passed away March 4 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha. Nick was born on Feb. 23, 1945 in Prague, the son of Charlie and Ruby Kuncl. He was raised in South Omaha and attended and graduated from South High in 1963.

On Feb. 7, 1970 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 48 years Jan Rech. Nick worked at Omaha Steaks for 31 years ending his career as a truck driver for the last 25 years. He retired in 2009.

Nick enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He loved living on the lake in Lakeland and driving his golf cart around the neighborhood to visit with everyone. With the phrase "If not now, when?" he convinced his wife to purchase their first Corvette.

Nick is survived by his mother Ruby Kuncl, his wife of 48 years Jan Kuncl, brother Douglas Kuncl, sisters Debra (Bill) Lang and Sandra (Bret) Geist, and brothers-in-law Raymond (Juliann) Rech, Roger (Beverly) Rech and David (Bonnie) Rech, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and one great-great nephew.He was preceded in death by his father Charles P. Kuncl.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday March 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Graveside services will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery in Omaha. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair.
