Mrs. Emily J. Berry died at her home at 610 East South Street at 8:30 yesterday morning, August 16th, of an illness due mainly to old age, she being in her 77th year. Some five years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she had never recovered fully. This spring her heart began to bother her and she has slowly failed until death finally overtook her. She was given every care and attention from her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Hillis, who lived with her ever since she has failed in health. The funeral service will be held at the Baptist Church, of which she was a member, Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating in the absence of the regular pastor. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery. Emily Jane Burger was born in Steuben County, New York, December 16th, 1850, the eldest of nine children. She came to Nebraska with her parents at the age of five years and they settled in Burt County. She grew to womanhood there and in 1871 she united in marriage to Samuel T. Berry. The lived nears Lyons for about two years, then moved on the bottoms north of Blair, where they lived until 1886, when they moved to Weimerville. After Mr. Berry died she moved to the place on east Sough Street that was her residence for 38 years. Six children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. Those surviving her are Charles Ivan Berry of Jackson, Mont., Mrs. Arthur Stimpson and Mrs. J. W. Hollis, both of this city. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. M. K. Davies, also of this city, and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. John Burger, of Blenco, Iowa, and Mrs. Burt Burger, of Onawa, Ia. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of many friends.

Mrs. Emily Jane Berry died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Hollis, on west South street on Tuesday morning following a lingering illness. The deceased was born in Stuben county, New York, December 18, 1850, and moved with her parents to Burt county when she was but five years old. In 1871 she was married to Samuel J. Berry to which union six children were born, three of whom died in infancy. She is survived by a son, Charles Berry of Jackson, Montana, two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Stimpson and Mrs. J. W. Hollis of this city, a sister, Mrs. M. K. Davies, also of Blair, besides three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon from the Baptist church, after which the body will be laid to rest in Blair cemetery.
