Funeral Service: Monday, November 24, 2014, 10:00 a.m. Hanscom Park United Methodist Church, 4444 Frances Street, Omaha, Nebraska. Officiating: Rev. Zach, Anderson, Pastor.

Pallbearers: Perry Johnson, Mark Cummings, Tom Prohaska, Gary Becker, Norm Sorrells, Wayne Rapp

Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska. Military Rites by Millard American Legion Post 374 and Millard VFW Post 8334

Arthur “Wally” Cummings was born February 5, 1948. He died November 20, 2014 at his home at the age of 66 years.

Wally was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He was baptized at Dietz United Methodist Church and later was confirmed there. He recently joined the Hanscom Park United Methodist Church. Wally graduated from Central High School in 1966. He served his country in the United States Navy Reserves as a gunner’s mate on the USS King. He received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

On October 5, 2011, Wally was united in marriage to Sharon McShannon after a 32-year courtship.

Wally retired from O’Daniel Honda in 2006 after 42 years of service as an auto technician. Special joys in Wally’s life were attending Husker football games, photography, woodworking, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (McShannon) Cummings; cousin, Mark Cummings (Diane) of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Perry Johnson (Cissie) of Omaha, Nebraska, Gary McShannon (Anna) of Crofton, Nebraska, and Archie McShannon (Karri) of Violin, South Dakota; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Langemeier of Crofton, Nebraska and Lorraine Haas (Vern) of Rapid City, South Dakota; nieces and nephews; many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Cathryn McLean Cummings; sister, Linda Johnson; cousin, Charlie Cummings and wife Pat; good friend and father figure, Les Silverton.

Following this service there will be a Graveside Service at Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery. Folowing those services, you are invited to join the family at a lunch at the church for a time of fellowship.
