Mrs. Melinda Elizabeth Dickey Booten was born in Louisville, Kentucky, February 4, 1833, and died December 3, 1924, at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 29 days. She lived with her parents at Louisville, Ky., until she was 7 years of age when they moved to Knoxville, Ill. She was married to G.W. Booten, of Knoxville in the year of 1856 and to this union ten children were born of which number only five of them survive her. After residing in Knoxville for several years the family moved to Sigourney, Iowa, and lived in several different towns in Iowa. In 1894 she, with her husband and children, moved to Herman and she has resided here ever since. Her husband having passed away in 1899. At the age of 21 years she joined the Methodist church at Knoxville, Ill., and she held her belief in that church and the principles for which it stands. She leaves to mourn her loss five children, Mrs. Maggie Kelly, Herman, Neb., M. E. Booten of Perry, Okla., D. Booten, of Sioux City, Ia., Ed Booten, of Sioux city, Ia., and Matse Booten of Herman, Neb., six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, besides one sister, Mrs. Mary Menander, of Des Moines, Ia., aged 89 years and who is at this time ill at her home. Grandma Booten, whom we love to call by that name, was loved by all who knew her. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to any and all who were in need and these many kindnesses and words of cheer will be remembered for a long time. She had many friends and when these visited her during the illness they never heard a word of complaint but always found her in happy spirit and seemed to enjoy the companionship of them. She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Melinda Elizabeth Dickey Booton was born in Louisville, Kentucky, Feb. 4, 1833 and died Dec. 3, 1924 at the age of ninety-one years, nine months and twenty-nine days.

She lived with her parents at Louisville until she was seven years of age when they moved to Knoxville, Ill. She was married to G.W. Booten of Knoxville in the year of 1856 and to this union ten children were born, of which number only five survive her.

After residing at Knoxville for several years, the family moved to Sigourney, Iowa and after that they resided in several different towns of Iowa.

In 1893 she, with her husband and children, moved to Herman, Nebr., where she has resided until her death. Her husband passed away in 1899.

Booten, Sioux City; Ed Booten, Sioux City and Mats Booten of Herman; six grand-children and two great-grandchildren, besides one sister, Mrs. Mary Venander of Des Moines, Ia., aged eighty-nine and who is at this time, very ill at her home.
