Mrs. Jacob A. Brunton Dead-Passed Away at 3:30 Friday at the Age of 65 Years, 6 months, 23 Days-Funeral Held Monday P.M.

Mrs. Jacob A. Brunton passed out of this life at 3:30 last Friday afternoon, following an illness of some three years duration. She was able to be about her work until about two weeks before the end came. She contracted a heavy cold but her condition didn’t seem serious until Friday morning,

The funeral service was held at the Christian Church at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Carl G. Bader, assisted by Rev. W.B.F. Robb, Mrs. Brunton being a member of the Methodist Church and Mr. Brunton of the Christian Church. The music was furnished by a quartette composed of Misses Vanola Brunton and Cora Stricklett and Messrs. F.W. Arndt and Don C. VanDeusen, with Mrs. G.A. Rathman at the piano.

Sarah A. Smith was born near Jackson, Ohio, May 9th 1862, so was 65 years, 6 months, and 23 days old at the time of her death. She grew to womanhood there and in February of 1888 she was united in marriage to Jacob A. Brunton, who had spent a year in Washington County, Neb. and returned to claim her as his bride.

They came here to make their first home on a farm near this city, where nine children were born to them, two boys dying in infancy and one son, Clarence, on January 20th of this year, at the age of 24. Mr. Brunton sold out in March of 1917 and removed from the farm to this city, where the family home has since been on east Colfax Street.

Surviving near relatives are her husband six children, William of Hooper, Hester, Mrs. Fran Jones of Onawa, Ia., Emma, Mrs. Julius Langwisch, of this county, Jessie, Mrs. Adolph Langwisch, of Dodge County and Bryan Brunton and Hazel, Mrs. Frank Thompson, both of Blair. Also, one brother, Rev. William Smith, of Chicago, and one sister, Mrs. Callie R. Frick, of Richmond, Va.

Other relatives and friends share their bereavement in the passing of a faithful wife, mother, sister and friend.

We want to especially remember those who sent the beautiful flowers in her memory, the ministers, singers and pallbearers for their kindly services.

The death of Mrs. Jacob A. Brunton occurred Friday afternoon, Dec. 2, following an illness of several weeks. Her age was sixty-five years, six months and thirteen days.

The funeral service was held at the Christian Church in Blair on Monday, Dec. 3rd, at 2 P.M., the Reverend Carl Bader, assisted by Reverend W. B. F. Robb. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.

Sarah A. Smith was born in Jackson, Ohio May 19, 1862. In February of 1888 she was married to Jacob A. Brunton of Washington County, Nebraska, and came to live on a farm near Blair. Nine children were born to them, of whom two died in infancy and one son, Clarence, died Jan. 30, 1917, at the age of twenty-four.

In March of 1917 Mr. Brunton sold out and move to Blair, which has since that time been the family home.

Mrs. Brunton joined the Methodist Protestant Church in her girlhood and has maintained her interest in the church and its teachings through the years. She liked to attend the service of worship, and came regularly to the Methodist Church in Blair when she was able to attend.

For some three years she has been in impaired health but kept at her work about the home until somewhat over two weeks ago, when she contracted a heavy cold. Her condition was not thought to be grave until Friday morning when there was a serious decline.

Surviving near relatives are her husband Jacob Brunton; six children, William of Hooper, Hester, Mrs. Hester Jones of Onawa, Iowa, Mrs. Emma Langwich, Washington County, Mrs. Jessie Langwich, of Dodge County and Bryan Brunton and Mrs. Hazel Thompson, both of Blair; one brother, Reverend William Smith, of Chicago; and one sister, Mrs. Callie R. Frick, of Richmond, Va. Other relatives and friends share their bereavement in the passing of a faithful wife, mother and sister.

Mrs. Jacob A. Brunton died at her home in this city last Friday afternoon following an illness of but two weeks duration. The deceased was born in Jackson, Ohio, May 19, 1862, and in 1888 she was married to Jacob A. Brunton after which they came to Nebraska and settled on a farm near Blair. Nine children were born to this union of which six survive. She had been a resident of Washington county for 39 years, and had gained a wide acquaintance. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her bereaved husband, six children, William of Hooper, Mrs. Hester Jones of Onawa, Ia., Mrs. Emma Langwich of this community, Mrs. Jessie Langwich of Dodge county, and Bryan Brunton and Mrs. Hazel Thompson of this city. Funeral services were held at the Christian church on Monday afternoon the Rev. Carl G. Bader and W. B. Robb officiating, after which the body was laid to rest in Blair cemetery.
