MRS. MARIA L. BOSTON DEAD.

In taking toll the "Grim Reaper, Death, in passing, has summoned another Washington county and Blair pioneer, Mrs. John Boston Sr., one of nature's noblest creations. She was the widow of John Boston, Sr., who died many years ago. They located on the land where she has ever since resided, more than forty years ago and she has raised a family of nine children, six of whom are living, Albert, of Boone, Ia., Mrs. Peter Reifers, of Greely, Nebraska, Joseph, who lives in Kansas City, Mo., and Malcom, John and Mrs. Mike Thompson near Blair .

Deceased was a woman of sterling character and possessed many virtues. During her entire life of toil and moil, often pinched by poverty and subjected to the difficult task of providing for a large family of children, in their younger days, and in later days, to the care of a large family of small grandchildren, she never faltered or neglected what she deemed a duty, fulfilling all obligations of affection and humanity, as well as financial, devoting her life to her children and children's children and ministering to sick, distressed and suffering humanity wherever and whenever she could bring relief and comfort. The recollection of her will endure for generations and her example outlive any shaft of marble that can be erected over her last resting place. She made no loud profession of holiness or Christianity, just followed the prompting of a kind heart, a good head and a clear conscience .

Deceased was a native of Ohio, being born January 19, 1838 and was married to John Boston in 1854. She was a member of the Christian church and her pastor, Rev. Stansbury, conducted the funeral services last Tuesday, interment in Blair cemetery.
