4 Oct., 1945 - The Enterprise Fritz Beekmann Dies of Heart Attack, Oct 3-Was Born and Reared in Blair-Brother of Blair Merchant

Fritz Beekmann of Pisgah, Iowa, died at his home on Wednesday, October 3rd. He was born near Blair on a farm on March 18, 1874, and grew to manhood and received his education in Blair.

For twenty-two years he resided on the old home farm and then moved to Blair where he lived for two years. In 1908 he moved to Pisgah, Iowa, where he farmed for about ten years and then moved into Pisgah where he became the manager of the Farmer Elevator Company. This position he held until last January when the elevator was sold.

During his residence in Pisgah he served as mayor and also on the school board and was Vice-President of the Pisgah Saving Bank.

Fritz Beekmann was twice married, his first wife passing away several years ago.

He leaves to mourn him his widow and six children. The children are Marie McDonald of Tucson, Arizona; Cecelia Elder of Long Beach, California; Alma of Los Angeles, California; Ella McDonald of Storm Lake, Iowa; Frederick of Portland, Oregon, in the service; and Jay, also in the service but at present home on furlough. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Of the original Beekmann family, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Geo. Rohwer, Sr., of Fort Calhoun and one brother, C. J. Beekmann, of Blair.

The funeral will be held at the Campbell Mortuary tomorrow (Friday) at 2:30 P.M. and interment will be made in the Blair Cemetery. Thus another member of an early Blair family is gone.

~~~The Blair Cemetery records have his last name recorded Fred W. Beckman and there is a Find A Grave Memorial with this spelling also~~~
