Mary A. (Mrs. C. C.) Wood (Arnold)

Published in the Blair Pilot December 7, 1927

Wednesday forenoon of last week word was received by E. P. Hansen, that Mrs. C. C. Wood, of Colorado Springs, Colo., a former Herman resident had suffered a second stroke and small hope of her recovery was evidenced. During the afternoon another telegram came announcing that Mrs. Wood had passed away at her home, never rallying from the last stroke of paralysis.

For a number of years Mrs. Wood, with her father, the late L. L. Arnold owned and occupied the property in the south part of town now owned by J. D. Lowe and family. Mr. Wood passed away a number of years previous at their home in Colorado Spring, Colo. At the death of her father here which occurred about six years ago, Mrs. Wood soon left for Cripple Creek, Colo., to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Ormes. She soon found that the climate was not good for her there, the altitude being too high. She then moved to Colorado Springs where she continued to make her home up to the time of her demise. She had now enjoyed good health for some time, as learned by friends here who had kept up correspondence with her. While here Mrs. Wood was very active in church circles and by her many acts of kindness and love won and respect of Herman and its vicinity. Her many friends are grieved to learn of her death, the passing away of this good woman and they extend sympathy to her bereaved daughter, Mrs. Ormes, who had occasionally visited here and is quite well known by many.
