Kathleen “Kathy” Rose Maas, 65 years, of rural Herman, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her home. Kathleen was born August 19, 1952, in Fremont to Ray and Helen (Scheinost) Pearson.

Kathy was raised in Fremont and was a 1970 graduate of Fremont High School. She also received a bachelor’s degree from UNL. Kathy married David H. Maas in rural Arlington on August 4, 1972. They moved to the Herman area. She was a member of the Arlington Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, animals and reading. She was a very devoted wife, mom, and grandma. “Grammy” loved spending time with her family and being outdoors.

She is survived by her husband, David; daughters, Emily (Jason) Pohlmann of DeWitt, Carrie (Cory) Nixon and Abbie (BJ) Kempcke all of Blair; son, Adam (Kelsey) Maas of Blair; brothers, Ron (Chris) Pearson of Fremont, Darryl Pearson of Beatrice and Gene (Judy) Pearson of Cedar Bluffs; sisters-in-law, Carole Kimberlin of Gainesville, Fla., Kathy (Fred) Stranglen of Omaha, and Joyce Hughes of Farmington, N.M.; and grandchildren, Dayton and Wyatt Pohlmann, Colton, Greyson and Emma Nixon, and Jackson and Kendall Kempcke.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Pearson and Helen Grabow; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Virginia Maas; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Hughes.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Arlington Community Church in Arlington. The Rev. A. David Paul will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Visitation on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington.

Memorials may be left to the family for further designation.
