Mrs. Skinner Buried Here Friday

America Catherine (Thompson) Skinner, was born in Clinton County, Mo., October 20th, 1848 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. J. Raver, August 6th, 1919, aged 70 years, 9 months and 16 days.

She was married in Buchanan County, Mo., in 1871, to E. F. Skinner. Of this union God gave them 4 children, 3 of whom survive, her, namely Mrs. Chas. Devall, Mrs. S. J. Raver and Edgar Skinner all living near Herman.

Mr. and Mrs. Skinner came to Nebraska in 1885 and settled in Antelope County. From thence they moved to Washington County near Blair, thence to Iowa for three years and then to the present home, 5 miles southwest of Herman, where they have lived for 13 years.

The end came peacefully after many weeks of sickness. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon, August 8th, at 1 o’clock conducted by her pastor, Rev. M. W. Ballenger, after which the remains were taken to the Blair Cemetery for burial.

Mrs. Skinner was a member of the Baptist Church nearly 50 years. She was of lovely Christian character, to know her was to love her.
