Leslie E. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith, died at Omaha last Tuesday, being just twenty-one years and eleven-months old. He enlisted in the Army on May 8th, 1918, at Fort Logan, Colorado, being in Company C 20th Infantry. He served eleven months and while there contracted the disease that caused his death. Leslie was honor discharged when his sickness became so acute that he was confined in the hospital most of the last few months he served.

He is survived by his parents, two brothers and six sisters. They are Leroy, of Tekamah, Gerald, of Omaha, Mrs. Paul Siert, of this city, Mrs. Burroughs Bryant, of Green River, Wyo., Mrs. Harry Walsh and Mrs. Art G. Murttis, and Dora G. and Grace Alice Smith, of Omaha. He also leaves a long list of friends who will miss him. To the bereaved relatives the Pilot extends heartfelt sympathy and condolence with the hope that a ray of comfort will come with the remembrance that he died serving his county and his flag. Interment will be made in the Blair Cemetery. Rev. W. H. Underwood officiating.
