Carolyn A. Riddell entered this world on March 16, 1944 to Harley and Laurel (Christiansen) Perkins of Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away March 25, 2018, while surrounded by her family, at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, at the age of 74 years.

Carolyn and her parents moved to Oregon to run the motel owned by her uncle. They returned to Nebraska where Carolyn graduated from Omaha Benson HS in 1961. She attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln receiving her degree from the Teachers College in 1965. Carolyn accepted a teaching position in California with Santa Anna Public Schools. She married Bruce on July 17, 1966.

Carolyn and Bruce moved to Atascadero, California purchasing two quarter horses. Steven was born September 24, 1970 in San Luis Obispo and Lesley was born August 27, 1972 in Ventura. Carolyn taught night school in Lompoc, California. The family moved back to Nebraska in 1976 and settled in Tekamah. Carolyn taught for Tekamah-Herman and Blair Public Schools. When the family moved to Gresham, Carolyn taught in the Osceola Public Schools and Stromsburg Public Schools, retiring in 1997. During her years at Stromsburg, she served on the UNL Alumni Teacher’s College Board and as President (1993-94).

Bruce and Carolyn enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S.A. and overseas including some trips with grandchildren. In 2016 Carolyn and Bruce celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family trip to Duck, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Laurel Perkins.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Riddell of Tekamah; children, Steven (Jennifer) Riddell of Elkhorn, Lesley Riddell (Jeffry Koch) of Rose Hill, KS; grandchildren, Katelyn, Anna, Sarah, and Scott; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: Saturday, March 31, 2018, 10:00 am, at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah

MEMORIAL VISITATION: Thursday, March 29, 2018, 5:30 – 7:30 pm, with family receiving friends, at Pelan Funeral Services in Tekamah.

BURIAL: Oak Creek Cemetery, Raymond, Nebraska

MEMORIALS: Tekamah United Methodist Church.
