E. V. Capps Rites Were Held Monday-Once Owned The Blair Electric Light Plant

Rites were held Monday afternoon for E. V. Capps, 81, who had died Friday night, October 15th following a paralytic stroke suffered a few days previously. He had been in failing health for some time and was recovering from injuries suffered in a fall when the paralytic stroke came.

Mr. Capps was a man of great ability, a former professor of Physics and Chemistry at the University of Nebraska and an electrical engineer. At one time he was principal of Blair High School.

He had been a pioneer in the electrical industry in Nebraska and was once owner of the Blair Electric Light plant when that industry was in its infancy. The venture was beset with many difficulties in the form of inefficient machinery and line difficulties and after ten years of struggling with the plant he sold it to a highline company which served Blair for a time

Following this he was a resident inspection electrical engineer for the Federal Government at Hastings. Later he was assistant manager of the Logan Fontenelle Housing Project in Omaha. He retired in 1939.

He is survived by his wife Claudia, a son, Stanley, of Lincoln and a grandson, Stanley B. of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 18, at the Campbell Mortuary with Rev. Ralph Kersey conducting the service. Interment was made in the Blair Cemetery.
