C. A. Robeson 82, Died Here Sunday-Hotel Operator Was Once Active In Civic Affair

Charles A. Robeson, well known Blair man who has operated the Clifton Hotel for the 32 years, passed away at the Blair Hospital Sunday after being a patient there for several weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon with interment in the Blair Cemetery.

He lacked but a few days of being 83 years of age.

He was born April 4th, 1873 at Malcom, Iowa and grew to manhood in that vicinity.

On September 2nd, 1896 he was married to Ella May Spire and he and his bride took up farming immediately following their marriage. In 1917 he retired from farming and moved to Tama, Iowa. He spent nearly three years in McAllen, Texas for his health before coming to Blair in 1924. At that time he purchased the Clifton Hotel and has operated the business until his death.

During his life in Blair, he proved to be civic and church minded, helping the community in a number of places. He took an active part in the affairs of the Methodist Church and served on the Blair Board of Education for 12 years.

He was a member of the Masonic Order and the Order of Eastern Star.

Mr. Robeson was preceded in death by a son, Graydon who died in 1934. His survivors are his wife, Ella May, a son, Scott Robeson and a daughter (Bessie) Mrs. M. E. Morse, all of Blair. There are seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Melven Ireland conducting the services. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.
