John H. Christensen Found Dead-Was Found In His Home By A Neighbor Sunday

John H. Christensen, former businessman and City Official, was found dead in his home on West Washington Street last Sunday. Death was attributed to a heart attack which he had apparently suffered three days earlier.

A neighbor, who had not seen Mr. Christensen about his home for some time, decided to investigate Sunday and he was found seated in a rocking chair in his living room. Death had come quietly for the aged man who had been a part of business and civic life here for many years.

As a young man Mr. Christensen went into business on the west coast where he was engaged in the sawmill business. Later he was in business in California where he had a brother living at the time. At about 1916 he returned to Blair to become the manager of the old Independent Telephone Company which at that time operated here concurrently with the Bell Telephone lines.

Later he purchased the drug store known as the Moore Pharmacy and operated it until a few years ago when he retired and sold it to its present owners, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Moore.

He was married to Miss Etta D. Brenbarger May 3, 1909 and to this union one son was born. The son, however passed away many years ago.

During the years he spent in business in Blair, Mr. Christensen also took an active interest in the city’s political life and for a number of years he served a Councilman from Ward 2.

He was considered a good businessman, careful and cautious in all his dealings.

A nephew, Robert Christensen, of Modesto, California is a survivor. There are no living brothers or sisters. Morris Christensen, Charles Christensen, and Mrs. Minnie Iverson all of this vicinity, are cousins of the deceased man.
