Mrs. Van Deusen Is Buried Today

Mrs. Claude C. Van Deusen, in failing health since suffering a slight stroke two years ago, passed away April 20th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pat McCormick. On April 9th she was admitted to the Blair Hospital because of a gall bladder attack, but returned to the McCormick home on April 16 and her condition seemed much improved.

Josie Isobel McMurtrie was born in Racine, Wisconsin on July 23, 1882 and came Nebraska with her parents, David and Sarah McMurtrie. On December 10, 1900 she was united in marriage to Claude C. Van Duesen and to this union was borne two sons, George of Blair and Earl of Cove, Washington and a daughter, (Leota) Mrs. Pat McCormick of Blair. She is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. C. E. McComb of Blair.

Mrs. Van Duesen was known for her friendly personality and was active in a number of Blair organizations until the last few years. She served as a Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Past Noble Grand Club. She was also Oracle of the Royal Neighbors beside being a member or the Methodist Church, V.F. W. Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.

The Bendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and services will be held at the Methodist Church at 2 P.M. Thursday (today) with Rev. Melvon Ireland officiating. Burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery beside her late husband, who died in 1932. Pallbearers will be Walter Huber, Zeke Halstead, B. H. Keeran, Paul Fackler, Guy VanDeVenter, and Walter Koenig.
