Bert Trisdale, Blair Florist Is Dead- Heart Ailment Cause of Death After Short Illness

Bert Trisdale, Sr. owner and operator of the Blair Greenhouse, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

The well-known Blair businessman had suffered mild heart attacks at various times in the past and had not been feeling well since late Monday. About noon Tuesday he decided to go to the hospital for a checkup. Death came during examination.

Bert Trisdale, Sr. was born at Gainesboro, Tenn., October 11, 1904. He was 52 years at the time of his death. He grew to manhood in that southern state and was married to Miss Lou Staggs at Lawrenceburg, Tennessee in 1926.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Trisdale moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where he became interested in the greenhouse and florist business, a trade which he followed for thirty years.

In June 1945, he purchased in partnership with Selby Taylor, of Omaha, the Blair Greenhouse then operated by the late William J. Rodgers. He continued the raising of flowers for retail purposes but capitalized on Blair’s nearness to Omaha by entering the wholesale business extensively. The business made rapid strides and the greenhouse is now considered the second largest in Nebraska.

Four years ago he purchased the interested of his partner and has been the sole owner of the establishment since that time.

He is survived by his wife, Lou, and two sons, Bill, who has been associated with his father in the operation of the greenhouse, and by Bert Trisdale, Jr., of Denver, Colorado. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., Blair Lodge and took an active interest in many of the civic affairs of the community.

Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. John Easley, Mrs. Joe Darr and Mrs. Ruth Hamdorff, all of Nashville, Tenn. and Mrs. William Heady of Gainesboro Tenn.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from the Methodist Church with Rev. Melvon Ireland officiating. Burial under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary, will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

Those who wish to send flowers are requested to call the Mortuary, rather than the greenhouse, and the orders will be taken care of.
