Harvey Eugene Nielsen, age 81 of Kennard, passed away April 9, 2018, at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Graveside services will follow in the Kennard Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 12 at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair.

Harvey was born on August 26, 1936, in Omaha, the son of Morris and Anna Nielsen. He was raised in the Ak-sar-ben area, which fueled his love of cars during his lifetime. In June 1957, he joined the United States Army and served until 1959. After returning from the Army, he met Donna Christensen and the couple were united in marriage, and later made their permanent home in Kennard. Harvey spent the majority of his working career at Kellogg's in Omaha, being proudly employed there for over 30 years.

Harvey loved working on cars and restoring his 1956 Ford. He was also an avid collector of war time memorabilia.

He is survived by his daughters; Aliceann (Don) Speicher of LaVista and Crystal Nielsen; grandchildren, Jake Speicher of Omaha, Mitch Speicher of Omaha and Jill Speicher of Great Falls, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Bailey, Gage and Brody; sisters-in-law, Bobbie (Jerry) Priefert of Omaha and Joan (Richard) Ulmer of Soldier, Iowa, along with special friends, Chuck and Lola Christensen of Kennnard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna Nielsen and brother, Ron Nielsen.
