Sam was born in Omaha on August 11, 1935. His parents, Charles and Patricia, were both immigrants from Sicily who met in Omaha. He married Marilyn Custard in 1954 and had three children. Sam had a relentless work ethic. He worked full time at Supreme Bakers as a teenager, moving from a baker’s position to a truck delivery driver when the plant shut down. His main work experience involved around city delivery for beer distributors. Both his sons had opportunity to help him a few times and he worked circles around them. He was always a good provider for his family. He married Christie (Meyer) Nanfito in 2001, which turned into another happy stage of his life as he gained a new family he loved and who loved him. His grandkids, step-grandkids and great-grandkids were his delight! Nobody loved sports more than Sam. His greatest passion for many years was watching New York Yankees baseball! He also loved to interact with people wherever he encountered them.
