BODY OF YOUTH FOUND IN THE MISSOURI RIVER

The body of George Lee Boyce, 15-year-old Blair youth who drowned in the Missouri River late Sunday, was found Thursday several miles north of Dodge Park in Douglas County.

Boyce and a companion, John Young, were reportedly drifting downstream in a small boat when they approached some barges which were tied up just below the Blair Bridge. They were reported to be using a 4 1/2 h.p . motor which did not have enough power to get them clear of the barges in time to avoid being sucked under them by the current of the river.

Young, who was 19, jumped overboard and swam to the shore. Boyce stayed with the boat and went under the barge.

Graveside funeral services were held for the youth Friday afternoon at the Blair Cemetery. The Rev. James Metzgar conducted the service.

The youth lived with his parents at 1250 Nebraska Street. He was a student in the Blair schools.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Gus) Boyce and by three brothers, Bill, and Dayle of Blair and Darrell Boyce of Herman.

Also surviving are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Boyce of Dunlap, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. William Salsbury of Prosser.

The Campbell Mortuary was in charge of burial services.
