George Fitzgerald, a former resident of the Garryowen neighborhood south of Calhoun, died last week at his home in Omaha. Deceased was the son of John Fitzgerald, a pioneer settler in the Garryowen neighborhood, now residing in Omaha, and was born on board a steamboat between St. Joseph, Mo., and Omaha when his parents were coming to Nebraska in 1857. He leaves a wife and six children. Rev. Fr. O’Driscoll, of this city, was called to Omaha to preach the funeral sermon at Sacred Heart Church and says that the funeral was the most largely attended of any ever held in Omaha, exceeding in numbers in attendance the funeral of the late Count Creighton.
