Bernard "Bennie" George Schole
Died on 7/11/1918

Published in the Tribune July 18, 1918

Another death has resulted from an automobile accident in the vicinity of Herman. Last Thursday evening Bernhardt George Schole, a 14-year-old boy, who had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Fred P. Andersson for the past three years, in company with a young man named Burdic, started for the Wm. Raver farm for a visit with the Albright family who live there, and was driving the car at a high rate of speed when he lost control of it and it turned over twice, crushing his chest so badly that he died on his way to the hospital. The body was prepared for burial and taken to Hooper where the father, two sisters and two brothers reside, and the funeral was held on Sunday morning. Twenty or more families from the Anderson neighborhood among whom was S. J. Raver and family taking with them Miss Helen Clark, of Blair, who was “Bennie’s” school teacher at the York Creek school for the past two years, drove up to attend the last sad rites, and all ladened with beautiful flowers, a tribute to the memory of the boy who had made his home among them, and had been a favorite with all because of his sunny disposition and his desire to please his employer. Mr. Anderson and his wife had become to regard Bennie as a member of the family and their grief at his terrible death is deep and sincere. The funeral was also largely attended by friends at Hooper, where the body was laid to rest.
