Delbert D. Braesch, 71, of Arlington, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Arlington Community Church with Rev. Shirley Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in the German Cemetery, north of Bennington. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church one hour prior to services.

Delbert D. Braesch was born May 19, 1932, in Bennington. He grew up in Douglas County and was a 1949 graduate of Bennington High School.

On May 25, 1952, he married Margaret Puls in Bennington. After his marriage, the couple lived in Elkhorn until 1954, then moved to Arlington in 1958.

Mr. Braesch owned and operated Hooper Transfer from 1958 until 1971; he then drove trucks for Valley Transfer in Elkhorn until 1974. He was employed at Valley Products Metal Manufacturing (now Valmont) at Valley for 23 years until retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Arlington Community Church and Alcoholics Anonymous, and was a former member of the Arlington Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Cindi Braesch of Fremont, Robert and Carole Braesch of Grand Island, and Bryan and Luzviminda Braesch of San Diego, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Pete Rix of Fremont; mother, Jorgena Luschen of Fremont; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Helen Braeschof Bennington and Richard and Bessie Braesch of Windsor, Colo.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Braesch.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Arlington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, and the Arlington Community Church.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
