Blair native Leon Bragg, 62, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kenosha, Wis., from complication of multiple sclerosis.

Leon Bragg was born May 15, 1943, in Blair to Clyde and Maxine (Miller) Bragg. He graduated from Blair High School, attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a Regents Scholar, and received a bachelor of arts in history from Dana College.

On Aug. 22, 1965, he married Donna Hale at First United Methodist Church in Blair.

Mr. Bragg taught for more than 25 years in the Racine (Wis.) Unified Schools, most of those being sixth grade at Jerstad-Agerholm Elementary and Middle Schools. He last taught at Stephen Bull Fine Arts School in 1993.

He served on many committees and task groups at the schools where he worked, including serving as a University of Wisconsin-Parkside Science Fellow. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Blair; Sigma Nu fraternity, and Phi Alpha Theta, history honorary.

He loved baseball and was a pitcher in youth leagues, Junior Legion, American Legion and at Dana College. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and Nebraska football.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Stephanie Hupp of Kenosha; son Jonathan of Davis, Calif.; and one granddaughter; aunt, Viola West, Blair; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bragg, Council Bluffs, Iowa; mother-in-law, Marie Hale of Kenosha; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl and Maxine Hale of Langley, Okla., and Donald and Mayra Hale of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Douglas.

To honor his wishes, there will be no services. Remembrances may be directed to the Dana College Endowment Fund, 2848 College Drive, Blair, NE, 68008, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Wisconsin Chapter, 1120 James Dr., Hartland, WI 53029.
