Funeral Services were held for Paul L. Braesch on Friday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in St. Johns Lutheran Church in Bennington. Dr. Norman Schroeder officiated.

Organist was Miriam Sukraw and vocalist was Joyce Johnson. Burial was in the German Cemetery with Hadan-Golden Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Casket Bearers were Arvid, Duane and Delbert Braesch, John Hansen, Herman Neuhaus and Clarence Schneekloth.

Braesch was born November 5, 1908, on a farm east of Bennington to Otto and Bertha (Lang) Braesch.

He grew up in this community and remained here until retirement which was in 1972. Paul went to school in District 26. He attended high school for a short time but decided he wanted to enter the work world. He has helped on the farm, worked as a farm hand, and spent some time as an employee of the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

Braesch was baptized at St. Johns on March 28, 1909 by Pastor Ahrens. He confirmed his faith at St. Johns on April 5, 1935. He has continued his membership his entire lifetime at St. Johns.

On January 3, 1934, he was united in marriage to Edna Marie Voss at St. Johns.

Braesch remained faithful to the farming industry all of his life. In 1972, Paul and Edna retired to Fremont.

On July 22, 1983, Edna died. Braesch stayed on in Fremont for a while but then returned to rural Bennington for a short time before he settled in at the Remington Retirement Home in West Omaha.

He became ill, was hospitalized and following two surgeries he died Tuesday evening, May 13, 1986 at the age of 77 years, 6 months and eight days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edna; four brothers, Herman, Hugo, Fred and Henry; one sister, Helen Hansen.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrel and Leila of Bennington and Dennis and Lois of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Debra and Barry Braesch, Amy and Eric Braesch; one brother, Hans of Fremont; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
