John Flanagan Buried Monday

Blair Man, 85, Died Saturday; Daughter, Four Sons Survive

John Flanagan, 85, Blair resident six years since coming here from Omaha, where he had lived 47 years, died Saturday in an Omaha hospital after a brief illness. With his sons, he had been active in management of the Flanagan farm land northeast of Blair.

Native of Ireland, Mr. Flanagan came to America with his mother when he was two years old, first living at Akron, Ohio. He was married there, and came in Omaha in 1887, where he opened the Flanagan & Heafey Livery Stable at 17th Street and St. Mary’s Avenue.

In later years, Mr. Flanagan was foreman in the Omaha street department for 15 years.

Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. George Bohman of Omaha, and four sons, Edward of Omaha, Thomas, Francis and Charles, all of near Blair.

Funeral services were held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the John A. Gentleman Chapel in Omaha, followed at 9 a.m. by services at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in that city. Interment was in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Omaha.
