Harold E. Brandert, 85 of Fremont died Sunday, June 29, 1997 at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Burnell Beyers will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m.- 9p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel; and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to service time.

Brandert was born Sept. 10, 1911 in Washington County to Herman and Fredericka (Meyer) Brandert. He grew up in Washington County. On March 3, 1935, he married Selma Echtenkamp at Arlington. After his marriage, he and his wife farmed east of Winslow. He retired from farming in 1978 and moved to Fremont in 1988. He and his wife helped originate and plan the annual Lutheran Orphans Festival for the Lutheran Orphanage in Fremont.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fremont; a life member of the Lutheran Laymen's League; and was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Shirley Brandert of Fremont; a daughter, Karen Brazda of Fremont ; a former son-in-law, Doug Brazda of West Point; a sister, Alice Stork of Fremont; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Selma and brothers, Clayton Brandert and Clarence Brandert.

Pallbearers will be Corey Brandert, Scott Brazda, Rich Brazda, Brad Diers, Don Olsen and Robert Betkie. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Lutheran Family Services.
