Mrs. Flaugher Dead at 97

Blairite Died Saturday at Soldiers and Sailors Home, Grand Island

Mrs. Emily Flaugher, 97, widow of D. S. Flaugher of Blair, died early Saturday at the Soldiers and Sailors Home at Grand Island, where she had been a guest the last years of her life.

She and her late husband formerly lived in East Lincoln Street.

Emily Chenoweth Flaugher, daughter of the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Child of Red Oak, Ia., moved to Blair in 1924. She had no children of her own, but raised two nieces and a nephew, children of her brother, George Child. The nephew, Edmund Child, attended the Blair schools and later married Miss Gladys Mead, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mead of Blair. The Childs now live in Long Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Flaugher is survived by her brother, George B. Child of Los Angeles; and a number of nieces and nephews, most of who live in Omaha.

Funeral services were held at the Campbell Mortuary here Monday at 2 p.m., interment following in Blair Cemetery.
