Gary Joseph Fanoele, age 72, of Blair died Saturday June 9, 2018, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Blair. A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion in Blair.

Gary was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. to Evelyn and Joe Fanoele on June 20, 1945. He graduated from Chappell High School in 1963 and then attended Kearney State College, graduating in 1968. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. It was there that he met the love of his life, Carol Sederberg. Upon graduation, they were hired by Blair High School, Gary teaching history and social studies. After four years, he left teaching and pursued a career in sales. Gary enjoyed politics and served on the Blair City Council for 16 years. He was a master storyteller who was a lover of history, golf, hunting, and going to coffee. His greatest loves, however, were his six grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by wife, Carol of 50 years, daughter, Angela (Travis) Gifford, son, Michael (Ashlei) Fanoele, and daughter, Katie (Ryan) Christianson; grandchildren, Jax and Eve Gifford, Ava and Molly Fanoele, Madison and Ryder Christianson; and sister, Vicki Fanoele of Sacramento, Calif.

Memorials may be designated to the family for later distribution to local groups and charities.
