Charles R. Fleming, 56

Charles R. Fleming, 56, of Arlington, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date at the Tekamah Cemetery. There is no visitation.

Charles R. “Chuck” Fleming was born July 6, 1953, in Omaha to Charles Thomas Jr. and Lora (Davis) Fleming. He was raised in Omaha and in Tekamah, and graduated from Tekamah High School in 1971.

He enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to Tekamah, where he farmed. He moved to Grand Island in 1983 and worked as a self-employed auto mechanic and was a car salesman. In 1999, he returned to Tekamah for four years; he lived in Blair for four years; and moved to Arlington in 2007.

He is survived by his fiancée, Delphina Purdie of Arlington; son, Garret Fleming, also of Arlington; his fiancée’s sons, Steven Purdie of Grand Island, Nathan Purdie of Omaha, and Kristopher Purdie of Arlington; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Kate Fleming of Elkhorn and David Fleming of Grand Island; nephew and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Petersen.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
